How to: Add Digsby to Windows Live Writer 2011

Everyone wants to make their blog posts more interactive, and while sharing links may get you more popularity, some people are looking for more direct response from the readers.

One of the most popular instant messaging applications is Digsby. Digsby is a powerful instant messaging application that’s compatible with just about every instant messaging protocol that’s available on the Internet.

In addition to being able to interface with all these instant messaging protocols, Digsby also offers a widget; HTML code that can be placed into the post of your article, where readers can communicate with you directly.

the first thing you want to is go to the Digsby website and choose the option at the top for a widget.

Choose next and login with your Digsby account and then grab the HTML for the Digsby widget.

Now go back to Windows Live Writer…

HTML code can be pasted directly into the source of the post, or you can do it an easier way […]

You can use a nice little tool called Dynamic Templates.
I really suggest you go to the website and watch the videos to get the real idea of the plug-in. It can help/do many things.

I use DT to INDENT text [example]:

But you can do other things too; it's quite configurable to various things Windows Live Writer doesn't do by default.

Download here:

create a new template, paste the Digsby widget code into the template and then save it.

From that point on, anytime that you want to use or insert a Digsby widget into one of your posts, use the template manager, and select the Digsby widget and it’ll be inserted automatically.

Done!

Until next time,
